P1020314Accidents & Trauma

Accidents do happen, whether on the soccer field or at home. If you suffer a trauma to the mouth or loose a tooth you need a skilled dentist to make the repair. If the tooth comes out, put it in a container of milk or water, apply ice to your mouth if necessary. Most accidents involving broken or lost teeth can be treated in only one visit and the tooth can often be saved. Call and come in as soon as possible.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium cylinders that are permanently placed in the jaw bone that provide the support for the replaced teeth. Implants are affordable and permanent. Unlike dentures, once the implants are in, you can forget them. They look and feel like your natural teeth and improve the appearance of your mouth and smile. With dental implants, you are not restricted to certain foods and can eat corn on the cob and chew gum. Dental implants also reduce the bone atrophy and shrinkage that is common with lost teeth.

Root Canals

Endodontics is the dental specialty that deals with the nerves of the teeth. Root canals are probably the most notorious procedure in dentistry and the most common endodontic procedure. If a tooth infection cannot be cured with medical treatments, a root canal is sometimes necessary to remove the infected nerves.

While “root canal” was once a scary term for dental patients to hear, the benefits of the procedure and advances in dental technology have made it much less intimidating. There is no reason to be afraid of a root canal. Century Dental uses the most up-to-the-minute techniques to make sure your experience is painless. An infection of the root, left alone, can lead to very serious problems of bone loss in the jaw.

Wisdom Teeth / Extractions

Wisdom teeth extractions are a fairly common procedure. Wisdom teeth often cause problems when they grow by trying to protrude through the gums. When a wisdom tooth is impacted, it means the tooth is coming in at an angle and not straight through the gum line. This can cause pain, the tooth can come in unevenly, or the tooth may only emerge partially.
Impacted teeth and wisdom teeth can potentially cause problems, such as infections, and usually need to be removed. Extractions can range from a single tooth, to removing all four wisdom teeth at once. Schedule an appointment if you think you may need a wisdom tooth evaluation for your or a member of your family.

Toothaches

Toothaches can take many forms. Are you feeling slight discomfort? Are you sensitive to hot or cold, or both? Or are you having significant pain? No matter what, it is always good to check with your dentist. If your teeth are perfectly healthy you shouldn’t feel them at all. Schedule your visit with Century Dental so that our dentists can diagnose and treat your discomfort.

Broken / Cracked Tooth

Can your broken tooth be saved? That is our objective at Century Dental. Call for an immediate appointment if your tooth should crack or break. We will use our digital x-ray system to determine if your tooth can be protected or if an extraction is necessary.
